re-suspending door speaker cones

The drivers door speaker in my '07 Savana gave it up recently. I ordered OEM replacements prior to pulling the blown speaker. That was a mistake. The door speakers in my van are an upgrade or at least better than the OEM replacements.
The part # for the existing speakers doesn't match the # for the new OEM's and doesn't return when searched on Autozone's site.
I returned the replacements and ordered re-suspension kits from:
https://www.speakerworks.com/6-inch-...it-p/swk6b.htm

This was a much cheaper alternative. The OEMs were $40/ea. The kit was $20/pair.
Mine is a stock sound system. Spending much on new speakers would be a waste.
I just reinstalled and closed up the door skin. Sounds as good as it's going to get.
If I put in a new sound system down the road new/better speakers would be on the agenda.

Sometimes adding sound insulation to the door cavities makes a bigger improvement than upgrading the speakers themselves.

I considered that. I found myself with the door skin off and the wrong speakers in
hand and just wanted to resolve the problem quickly.
The door skin removal isn't all that tough. What insulation would you recommend? I'll probably have the passenger side open soon enough. Having the insulation on hand would be a good motivation.
Thanks GH

The issue with sound damping in the front doors is that many times the material gets wet, since those windows roll down. If there is an enclosure/shield behind the drivers that usually ends up with a better outcome.

gahamby: Props to you for re-foaming the stock drivers! Most folks would pitch them and buy replacements.

That's why I recommended those baffles above. I used them on some older vehicle I rehabbed that had drafty, leaky window seals. It was probably a Westy Vanagon.
