What is this under my van?

Hey guys

While searching for my trailer light connector I found this strange thing.

And then I got this 4 pin connector sitting in a dead end.

What is this under my van?

Can’t really tell, but might have been for an accessory heater at some point

Charcoal canister. Part of the emissions system. Hose should come from fuel tank (breather).

Scotty is correct. You found the evap canister.

The 4-pin you found looks to be the heavy duty trailer tow circuit, which will have aux battery charge, reverse, and trailer brakes. The pigtail that continues after should continue to your 4-pin flat that may be taped into the bumper or at the frame horn.

Just for the sake of completeness:
Rear bumper lights work.

The Rigid lamps from UJOR have a red halo and white mid LED. The white one is a) imo too bright to be used as regular position light and b) the regular „4pin adapter“ doesn‘t include reverse: means I didn‘t connect it.

The halo now works as additional brake light and turn signal as planned.
