Dave,

Can you expand a little on your water connection/system?

Does it connect to the large lid? or the smaller lid on the larger lid?

Click 'Shop Now' in the upper right hand corner
Then type 'Water Cans' into the search box

You have to click around to find the way to order without an account and pay by credit card.

"Property of the US Government" is stamped on them, so I am keeping the receipt in case anyone gives me shit .
Are these new/unused?

Yep...to the large lid. I'll try to get an image up but it screws down on the can and has a siphon tube like a spray bottle, plus an exit line. A small air inlet (which has a pressure gauge and regulator valve) hooks directly to my coiled tire air extension line. You got to be careful because the plastic cans will bloat. I keep the pressure below 5 PSI so it's a bit slow but for water I can push it into the city port. I have to admit for fuel it's a PITA as a REAL old army spouts (like I got in Colorado...don't tell anybody) along with a little muscle is faster. But I can leave the cans in place and fuel my rig provided I use the standard rear bumper tray and a hose that's long enough. But I no longer have that tray. So the fuel hose sits in my trailer and isn't used much. What I do like is the nozzle is it’s just like a gas station pump handle (w/o the stupid Ca reg crap) and there is no spilling of fuel. I don't need the long fuel hose provided I set the cans by the vans fuel inlet and can fuel just like a gas station. All I need is the short 5’ fuel hose and nozzle plus the coiled air line from the compressor. It can work for water too. Here is the problem. With backpacks we use a purified air (generally a cascade type system or high pressure system) to put safe air into tanks. OK we breathe that, but I'm somewhat worried that the extreme air is not very pure. This is water that will be consumed. Maybe something like food safe pressurized gas might work to power the jerry cans flow, but its one more thing to carry. In all honesty I think it’s more of a PITA to deal with than what it’s worth, plus clean air is a prerogative for potable water using this method. Maybe I’m overly cautious. Now a big fuel tank…that would be different.

Just curious, did they send your three tanks by commercial freight with a lift gate, or something more sensible?

Re: NATO surplus fuel cans

Just checked out the LCI cans.
They are now up to $24.99
Funny thing is if you go to Google Shopping and enter "5 gallon water can" the top result is LCI but it lists them at $16.99. Clicking on the link brings you to the $24.99 price.

FYI. From the FAQ:
Quote:
How much do you charge for shipping?

We do not charge for shipping at this time for deliveries to the 48 contiguous states and District of Columbia. For locations outside of the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia, specific freight cost quotes will be provided to the customer prior to order processing. Additionally, if you need LC Industries' items expedited overnight, shipping charges will be incurred. Please notate on your order that you need the products the next day.

Is there a minimum order amount?

Yes. Because we do not charge shipping, we ask that you order at least $50 worth of goods at a time.
Don't know if that makes any difference especially since it reads "Free shipping for orders over $50" right on the front page.
