Alternate to Aluminess Front?
Does anyone know of another aluminum, front, off-road bumper alternative to Aluminess? It'll be going on a 2013-14 front end w/ dual headlights.

Re: Alternate to Aluminess Front?
I didn't know Buckstop made aluminum. Thanks. What I'm looking for an alternative for is worry about whether Aluminess' design is the best aluminum I can get that'll provide the best airflow for my 7.3. I read something recently on Diesel forum that complained about that. This caused the cobwebs to clear momentarily and I recalled lots of threads here back in the worst of times with the 6.0. Everyone was desperate to get of the heat, and the A bumper was accused of not helping things any.

Re: Alternate to Aluminess Front?
Thanks. I will follow up w them. The reason is they say they'll build whatever I want. I can make it black. Their basic design needs plastic surgery under the corners for better off road approach and a lot taken out under the chin for air flow.

If you want to more airflow through the hood, you actually want a deeper bumper that is closer to the ground. This will create lower pressure and will draw more air through the grill. What you do want is more open area in the bumper in front of the radiator.
One downside of all the off-road bumpers: They all dispose of of the rubber valence between the bumper and radiator. This allow for "short-cycling" when the fan draws back in hot air getting pushed out the bottom. I've never gotten around to making a fix for this, but it did decrease my A/C performance at idle in 100F+ weather.

Re: Alternate to Aluminess Front?
That road armor is pretty nice, I like that it has more of a minimalist look to many others and creates a more aggressive front end. I put the Aluminess on the front of my 7.3, but if doing it over, that road armor would be tempting. I've never had a problem with cooling and I've pulled my trailer and boat up through the mountains of Colorado and Utah. I think what Carringb said makes sense about opening things up around the grill, I also replaced my stock grill with a more open billet grill like Jeffery and have a larger exhaust. As a side note, I recently put on a mag-hytech tranny pan, almost doubles the fluid capacity and provides a much larger cooling area with fins, helped keep my tranny temps down. I have heard of people going with a larger trans cooler in the 7.3 if needed as well.
But if it's just engine temps you're worried about, I wouldn't worry too much about it in the end, the 7.3 never had the issues the 6.0 does when it comes to cooling, just go with the one you think looks the best.

Re: Alternate to Aluminess Front?
I want one of either, but not in the budget.
and one good thing, is at least you can step on the bumper and not slide off like the OEM one.
