So, it's been a minute. Recently I was in Colorado with my van and I parked it at Colorado Camper Van and the guys there cut a huge hole in it!

Apparently this is what they do so if you take your van there beware that this could happen. I negotiated with them about the problem and they agreed to put something on top of it in place of the hole. Hopefully this works out in the end.
Here is a pic they sent me later of some dude frantically figuring out how to plug the hole. They came up with some fiberglass, boat like structure to put on it. I guess there was rain in the forecast.

At this point I'm really starting to prefer it over the stock roof. To my surprise they charge money for cutting holes in vans. One of many things I don't understand about the world. I'll cut a hole in anyone's van for free, but well, here we are. Gotta do something.

The color match is awesome. Here are some more interior shots a couple weeks ago before completion. I fly out to pick it up this week.

Here is a pic of a van they did awhile back, same as mine, silver RB passenger with the high-pop top. It's been my inspiration for the past few months. Not sure whose van it is but this is a good representation of how mine will look:

I will not be adding a rack up top, just a minimal almuminum frame to hold a few hundred watts of solar and maybe my recovery boards.
Many thanks to 1der for his assistance in organizing this butchery. CCV is busy so get in line early if you want your van done this year! I was blown away by the growth since I was there last and the line of vans waiting to be converted. They are doing some impressive stuff these days.
