Dammit man you do such great work!! Ive been out of a van for a few months (blown 6.0L...) and aside from the trips to the desert/mtns with out it, your reports/write ups/progress reports definitely light the fire! One day.....one day! Please keep it up and bringing us along for the ride.

Lastly, I have a fiberglass topper like yours and am contemplating mounitng a roof rack for solar and as a sleeping platform. However my topper has perpendicular supports (they run across the body not down the length. Any suggestions on mounting? Preferably a "what would Saline do" type answer! Thanks man!!!

Thanks for the compliment! This project has been a lot more in depth than I had ever imagined.

Having perpendicular supports on the inside would add to the complexity of mounting a rack, especially if it needed to hold the weight of a sleeping platform.
I think I would do numerous plate mounts down the vertical sides of the topper (at least 4 or 5 each side) with plates both exterior and interior. This would help distribute the weight and stress a bit more.

More or less the mantra of owning an SMB.

Exactly! You'd think after already owning one I'd know better. Alas, here I am with another van.

The slats run the length of the roof on the Eezi Awn K9 rack. Plenty strong enough to sleep on. I'm pretty happy with mine. Not sure if it's what your looking for but there are different mounting options. Eezi-Awn K9 Roof Racks, Accessories, Applications, Q&A - Expedition Portal

I've gotten a few more things completed as of late. I'm still working on trim etc for the interior.
All the systems are done. I have the furnace, water heater, electrical and plumbing all done!! The weird thing is everything works!
