Sportsmobile Zen. It's the journey of building a rig, not the destination.

except when the rig has to ready for this winter's ski trip! AH!

i'm getting my driveshafts made today. mine's getting close to drive-able, but still have to do almost all of the interior stuff now, in a week's time.

feeling like i'm about to make a cabinet i'm going to throw away in the spring, but as long as it works to get me through ski season then we are good.

Reading through this thread its uplifting seeing I'm not the only one who frets over things, becomes highly disappointed at less-than-acceptable (to me) results of a supposed great idea and the combination of elation and minor disgust when the third iteration of something finally passes muster.

Over my "career" of building vans I've come to accept every aspect of the customization will require at least two prototype steps regardless how carefully I think I've planned. Perhaps I'm "conceptually challenged" wherein envisioning something without it being built and tested in the real world simply doesn't exist for me. Then again once I'm done its pretty much finished, at least to my needs and wants.

Oh well----collectively we must all be a bit sick knowing full well what we're about to do yet proceed anyway..........

Hi,
We built our van from a new Ford Transit 2016, so we didn't have to remove rust or anything. Here is our detailed build process:

Hope that helps!
