Re: A diesel engine woke up our marriage

Stumpalump, that tactic didn't work for me.

Back in the late 1980s, we lived in a modest two story house without a garage or storage shed. After much thought and saving, we bought our first white water raft for the princely sum of $1,200. It almost bankrupted us.

After a couple of years of using it, collapsing it, stuffing it in the back of of our Subaru wagon and storing it in our living room closet, Mrs. Ed demanded we get a new pickup truck to haul it around. Cost= $15K. Within a year, it was tiring parking the truck on the street and still storing the raft in the living room closet, so we bought a new house with a two car garage to hold everything.

Total cost of the raft, transport and storage by 1991 = $85K.

Having fun is expensive.
