Cardone PCM Module

Ordering a Cardone PCM from Rock Auto - I’m ordering a new PCM from Rock Auto because I discovered a leaky capacitor on the PCM board. A few questions:
  • - What so you think of Cardone PCM? Are they better than Flagship One or Blue Streak?
  • - Do I need to custom program the VIN number into the PCM?
  • - Can a bad PCM effect the fuel injectors and shifting? I don’t get hardly any pier in second and then gear but the motor sounds great when not in gear.

Also, veery little to no power when climbing hills. I checked almost the entire fuel system as well as compression etc and everything was good. Pulled the PCM this evening and discovered a leaky capacitor. Could this be the problem?

Any help would be appreciated. - Jeff

Have you checked the MAP sensor? Vacuum? What's your fuel pressure at the rails?

I'm not saying the PCM isn't bad, but it's pretty far down on my list of suspects for being down on power... But, since you have a bad component, definitely get it fixed... If it's a single bad cap, is it in a spot where you can just solder in a new one?

I don't believe pre-OBD2 PCM have any sort of VIN association, but there is probably different programming based on it's configuration, such as GVWR, A/C vs no A/C, EGR etc.

I'm not sure what you're saying about the shifting.
