Oily leak in the rear, what is this part?

I've got an oily leak in the rear.

Must have happened en route as its made a mess all the way back. It also got the new spare pretty good, and deep in the treads. Will the rubber be compromised?

And can anyone identify this leaking part for me please?

I can’t really tell from the photo, but brake line? I would not think there is an issue with the tire.

Check your brake fluid level?

Well....could be a number of things, brake fluid for starters, but also, did you just recently have your rear diff serviced? Even if not, it looks like your rear diff breather tube could go to the area in question, so it could just be diff fluid overflow coming out from the breather tube.
If you didn’t just have it serviced, you might want to check the fluid level and the fluid condition, if it hasn’t been changed out in a while, it could be contaminated, overheating and spewing out.

Did you smell it? Could it be fuel residue? Once you leak enough fuel, it does leave an oily residue after the lighter VOCs evaporate. I ask because it looks like that's your Evap purge solenoid that's oil-soaked.

I did smell it and it smelled more like oil than brake fluid. AND I did have the rear diff "serviced", but that was last year when I put the ARB locker in, which is why I checked with you folks first... I don't want to drive it without brakes or with a leaked diff. Perhaps I should get it towed for service?

Here are a couple of pics of a tube that had a drop of fluid coming out today. If this is from the diff, that would be it..

Yup. That's definitely the diff breather.

It's not normal to vent oil though, unless you put your van on its side. Or if it was overfilled and is foaming from being churned by the carrier.

I'm not familiar with this phrase.

Van hasn't been on it's side, but has been sloshed around quit a bit this summer.

Should I contact the fella that installed the diff?

Do you happen to know what gear oil was installed last? Mobil 1 full synthetic gear oil is notorious for foaming and puking out the vent of diffs and transfer cases. Amzoil is near no foaming with Schaffer’s and Red Line oils a close second.
