Sooo, I fired up the Espar tonight to give it some run time... and nothing but cold air comes out. First time I used since it was serviced... Just great...

Keep trying, Brian. Sometimes it took a few starts to get it to fire up. Then run it for a while. You should wait a few minutes between starts so the cycle of the controller is complete, which means the fan has completely stopped.

I'll try it again. I tried it three times, and ran it for several minutes each time. Nothing but cold air. Frustrating...

I've had fuel starvation issues with Airtronic heaters, but have also had one carbon up because it was used at high altitude without an altitude compensator. The last few I installed, I used Espar's digital altitude compensator and they have worked flawlessly--even at 11,000 ft! Espar claims they adjust for 0-9000ft and I've been told privately they'll run to 14,000. Impressive so far.

The fuel tank was full. My controller doesn't have a digital read out, just a red LED when it is on, so no known codes. This was at 100' above sea level and the altitude switch was set to 1, for the lower elevations. It worked when tested at ThermoKing and this was the first time I tried it since then. I sent an email to ThermoKing but no reply yet. Likely closed for the holidays.

Tom,

Are you a dealer/installer for Espar? Is the digital altitude compensator available for retrofit to older (2006) Espar models?

I sold that rig a few weeks ago and bought an 02 SMB 4x4 diesel w/Voyager top. I have lots of plans for the new rig including a custom interior, WVO system and a solar/wind power system. I've been lurking around the SMB sites for years, now I can show my face--so to speak.

Yes Brian there is a retrofit for them. SMB was supposed to install it in mine but somehow I got out of there before they put it in. I never asked the price.
Dave.
