Awnings....

Is anyone running a Batwing style awning on the Fiamaa brackets?
This would be a supported batwing, not a self supporting version.

It has been done, definitely using the legs. Self Supporting anything is, imho, out of the question, although WandererROCC figured something out for Yolanda.

The 180 is doable, the 270 is problematic due to the pivot point for the rear wrap around AND the forward case mounting point landing in the middle of the side cargo doors, well shy of the B Pillar bracket. A full spanning sub mounting bar /surface, across the three brackets, would be required in order to have something to mount the batwing to.

I would give the SMB brackets a VERY thorough inspection - check the well nuts and the sheet metal around the well nuts

All that being said - The Bat Wings have pros and cons vs the Fiamma F45S 10ft . One of the pros of the Fiamma is the ability to one person deploy or retrifvd in less than a minute. Also, the ability to put it out for anywhere from 1 to 8 ft. The Batwings are out all the way (6 ft max??) or not at all. If there is an obstruction, then no batwing vs a Fiamma gets extended out to the obstruction. The effort (often two people) to deploy and retrieve a batwing (or bag style CRB/AVT) will greatly minimize its usage, especially for that quick stop for lunch, or pulling it back in to go for a ride or hike or visit another campsite if wind is expected. The Batwing provides a little bit more side coverage (but not as far out) and looks cool when deployed, especially from a drone camera.

The Fiamma can be accessorized with either their stuff or DIY pieces to provide more coverage, rooms, etc. Imo, hard to beat the Fiamma or equivalent.

Thanks for the detailed answer.
I haven't put my hands on the brackets yet, but would certainly give them a solid look see.
The only reason I posted the question, is that we have an extra Frontrunner Batwing hanging in the shop.
The gentleman who purchased our teardrop didn't want it, as it was too tall for his garage.
Thanks for the reply!
