Yes, the start assist function of the Surepower was stupid in my opinion. It also didn't help that SMB wired it wrong. Unfortunately they have also been knwo to wire the Blue Sea 7620 wrong also.

I have attached a document on upgrading from Surepower to Bluesea

Side note; I really hope the inventor of the couch/bed in the EB 50 layout is NOT relaxing on a beach somewhere drinking a martini. There is NO reason it should be that hard to lift the seat cushion apparatus to work underneath it. None! Rant over. Continue on with your Friday.

Would someone please post a pic or two of their Blue Sea 7622 mounted, and the remote switch mounted. Where did you mount the manual switch?

Thank you.

No photos to show, but I mounted the remote switch low and to the left behind the drivers seat. Its nice to be able to switch the setting while in the drivers seat.

Backrds, thanks for the switch tip. Seems like a reasonable location for mine as well.

Finally had some time today to install my Blue Sea 7622 ACR and remote switch. Thanks to Scalf77 (Greg) for his time and effort edumacating me on both the Sure Power and the Blue Sea. It wasn't that bad, after I was able to wrap my head around how the Sure Power was wired in. Somewhat confusing to say the least. None of the documentation I found showed the existence of a hot power line coming in. Turns out I'd forgotten the presence of the solar panels and charge controller. Duh! Some fireworks, but nothing serious.

The Blue Sea is working exactly as advertised; opening and closing at the correct voltages, using the house battery to charge the engine batteries when the sun is on the solar panel, etc.

I ended up putting the switch on the panel directly under the bench seat; mainly because I didn't want to go through the effort of running the wires over behind the driver's seat. I might regret the decision but now that I'm confident that it's wired and working correctly, I'd feel confident moving the switch. Plus, I'll see how many times I'm in the driver's seat wishing the switch was off my left shoulder.

Satisfying project. Key learning, removing and reinstalling the engine batteries from the frame rail location is PITA! Don't do it just for the heck of it.

Thanks to those who offered advice.

I remove the bolster from the van and either pull the bed all the way out or hook a ratchet strap to the front leg and haul it way up on the drivers side roof latch eye.

Gahamby, that switch install is nice work. Like the location. Might end up moving mine, but that’s likely just wishful thinking.

I ended up removing both the bench seat and the bench back. Wasn’t as difficult as I feared.
