The Airtronic 5 has both gas (petrol) and diesel versions.

Sorry, that was an assumption as to why SMB didn't offer the gas version. Post edited.

Re: Espar hydronics, flate plate and V10 gas engine
SMBW installed a flat plate H20 heater. It works great when I run the 2008 V10 engine.
They also installed a tempering valve at my request and did not charge me.

Re: Espar hydronics, flate plate and V10 gas engine
Maybe the tempering valve does something I am not aware of. When I shower outside the SMB, I adjust the temperature when I start the flow, before applying water to my body, sort of like a real shower. What is the difference?

Ill try and explain it.
The water heater at your house is probably set to deliver 120 degree water. Your tub/shower valve only needs to mix 60 degree (cold) and 120 degree (hot), making it pretty easy to arrive at your perfect shower temperature. If your house water heater delivered 180 degree water the Delta Temperature your valve would have to cope with would be 120 degrees. Installing a tempering valve limits the high water temperature to what ever you want it to be. (Usually the low set point is about 120 degrees.) It achieves this temperature by premixing hot and cold water before the point of discharge. It just makes adjusting the shower mixing valve much more accurate and insures you are not going to get scalded by 180 degree water. The tempering valve is supposed to be located as close to the heater as possible to deliver more consistent water temperature, but I located mine close to the shower. I still get that "hot lava" at the sink. For me it is more of a safety feature. I don't want someone getting burned if they bump the shower valve by accident.

Thanks, Charlie. The safety factor is very important, I see.
