FORD RECALL TO SECURE GAS TANKS

Heads up! I thought I read about somebody on the forum dragging their gas tank down the road. Ford just recalled thousands of pre-2000 models for rusted straps. Check it out at the Ford web site.

That was a Transferflow tank. Need to look for my F250 however... (nope)

Re: FORD RECALL TO SECURE GAS TANKS

The recall is only for pickups - F-Series, not vans.

As Jage hinted, the Transferflow tank uses different straps.

Re: FORD RECALL TO SECURE GAS TANKS

The recall is for Ford trucks in the 20 or so coldest states where a lot of salt is used for ice on the highways.
I have a "97" F-250 4x4 so I checked it out.

20 coldest states
A. how do they know where my truck is?
B. how do they know where it's been?
C. how do they know someone in Southern California doesn't drive it in the ocean?

If someone in Southern California is driving their truck into the ocean, they have bigger problems than rusting gas tank straps.

I have done none of the above. So when the recall said 20 coldest states, I knew I didn't have to take it in, I stopped reading.
I did go out to take a look at the straps and they were fine.
