They love to do the screwdriver in the key hole trick.
Do you have an alarm?

Yep. I'm sure it drove them off. It's a 2 way pager type, so I got the page alerting me that the door had been opened. They were long gone by the time I got out there.

Re: Let's talk Security
They do but it looks like it would eat up most of the door storage space on the left hand doors (of the paired doors.) I'm considering it but I'm still looking for a good keyhole cover option. Anybody...? Anybody...? Bueller...?

Re: Let's talk Security
Joey ...thanks for all the links....
I honestly did not even know there was a side door lock. I am in the van right now and had to step out and look. It is there, but I dont think we have EVER used it.
Get rid of it.
It might frustrate a thief to mess with a lock that is not attached, but they could still mess up the door. If there is no lock, will they even spend any time there???

Re: Let's talk Security
Joey, first off sorry this happened to you. It really sucks. Happened to me on my last Jeep and my current one.

The problem is just that, if there is no lock they will move on. But not necessarily to the next car. Wouldn't they go to the front doors, or break a window? I saw a car that had all the keyholes removed and only an alarm would open the doors (yes, actually unlock and pop open). But again, if someone wants to get in they would break a window I would guess.

Re: Let's talk Security
That really stinks. Sorry Joey.
Makes one consider wiring the house battery positive to the lock and negative to the van walls. :-)
