Re: Secrets?
I have on my 05 E350 and it works great. The battery ran out after 4 years and the Ford dealer said it wasn't replaceable, but 4 small flathead screwdrivers opened it up and allowed me to replace the (watch style) battery. So very useful when you have 2 Labs in the van that jump up on the front seats to see where I go and hit the door lock button.

Re: Secrets?
Got mine programmed and it all seems to work. Instructions are easy to follow. I think I will mount it in the license plate area as soon as it gets warm enough (needs to be 60+ for install).
It will be nice to be able to go swimming or hot springing and not worry about the keys. Just lock them inside and use the keypad to get back in.
I think I will also hide a spare key inside (some dis-assembly required) in the off chance I lose my keys.

Was thinking of doing the same thing..... where are some good hiding spots? The armrest has a zipper underneath. Behind the drawer above the fridge you can tape them there? I can also tape them behind the shower compartment in the rear since the top lifts up and I store my jack etc there.
Any other good ideas?

Re: Secrets?
Four screws will remove my solar controller, so inside that space is a choice.
The SMB doors have storage spaces, hang a hidden hook in one of the corners out of sight.
Between the two halves of the Porta-Pottie is a place no one will look.
Dead space at the top of a closet.
Under the stove top.
Inside a dummy fluorescent light fixture.
Taped to the backside of the sink bottom.
Inside a spare filter box.
At the bottom of the trash can, under the plastic bag liner.
Attached to the penthouse, above the bed so you have to pop the top for access.
I'm sure you can find some other places in your van.

Re: Secrets?
Yea, I like that stash idea in the Porta-Potty - the thief would really have to be loser to go monkeying around in there!

Re: Secrets?
Oh no. The next time my van gets broken into, every door will be open, the porta pottie will be out, the cloths in the closet will be thrown all over the place, the stove top ripped out, the fluorescent lights torn off, the sink lifted out along with the trash can under the sink and the penthouse raised up. Just kiddin Mike

Re: Secrets?
Put a spare key in the ashtray, just not one that goes to your van.

Re: Secrets?
Hmmm, yeah... Test it a few times to gain confidence first. I've never had trouble with mine EXCEPT for a couple times when I've run my starter battery completely down because of that annoying radio/van switch.

Re: Secrets?
Here is another type of lock box.
http://www.keyguard-lock-boxes.com/wall ... ck-box.htm
Don't have any info on how they react to weather but they seem to be for outside use.

Jage,
Did you ever install this? Any issues with your Avatal?
