Our first SMB was an 04 RB50 w 6.0 diesel, Quigley 4x4, 285 tires and PH top and averaged 12-13 w 3.73 gears over the 8 years we owned it.

We now have a 2013 EB50 V10, Quadvan 4x4 on 285s and Voyager top w 4.33 gears and have never gotten better than 10.5. That was only once, flat, 55mph and @ sea level. Most of the time while towing our SMB trailer w a light load we get btw 8.8 and 9.5....on a good day.

Just took delivery of my 2008 EB Cargo V10, 4x4, 16" Fiberine hightop, 4" lift, 33" tires, 4:30 gears, not much to the interior yet: insulation, Transit jump seat, inverter...weight as pictured 7776lbs (1/2 tank fuel, no driver).

Drove it back from CO to FL (65mph GPS, 70 indicated) w/ cruise control all the time. Checked mpg 8 times by hand and got a low check of 11.7 and a high of 13.1mpg. I plan to to go to some higher flow cats, better "Y" pipe and quiet but higher flow muffler and Tune. If I can get to 14-15mpg I'd be ecstatic.

My 1990 E250 has averaged 12 mpg so far. That includes lots of slow driving on steep slopes, though, because of the places we tend to go camping. I have the 302 Windsor V-8, AOD 4-speed automatic, no drivetrain mods. I tend to go 60-65 mph on the freeway when terrain allows.

Keep us posted on your exhaust work, I'd like to know what parts you use. I thought 4x4 required custom work around the Y pipe but if u find something off the shelf, that'll be cool. Maybe it was headers?
