Let me be the first to reply. Here are some shots of wheel testing and close-ups of the tie rod clearance. You can see that a 16" rim with 5" of backspacing would not have fit.

Our vehicles had identical tires, BFG AT 285/75/16s, and visually it appeared that the SMB 4x4 had...

Final Comments:

It turns out that a major factor contributing to our noise problem after the Dynamat install was the improper seating of the doghouse cover...as correctly suggested by a few SMB...

When we designed our van in 2002, we wanted a removable rear bench seat. Employ it when we needed passenger space, and take it out when we wanted to haul gear...same as the current Transformer...

A good friend of mine has the 6.0 diesel, and they are noticeably quieter than its 7.3L predecessor. And I agree, when actually cruising on the road you notice the engine noise the least...it's not...
