Do you mind sharing what floor material that is? I don't recognize it and I'm looking for ideas. Looks awesome BTW.

Re: OPTIMA Batteries SEMA 2015 Build

Work continues on the SEMA van...

I've got the interior cabinet framing roughed out and starting to get down to the final details on the seat frame prior to sending it to powder coat. The bed extension and slides work out nice. The seat folds out just like I planned and I added a gas cylinder to assist the lifting/lowering of the seat back.

Here are some shots of the interior renderings and then the real thing taking shape....

The renderings don't show some of the panels that fill in the cabinets but they'll be there. The drawers in the back extend 32" but they're actually 34" deep. Under the seat is a large subwoofer enclosure, otherwise I would have had more room for drawers. The rear platform has some L-track for tie down points.

Re: OPTIMA Batteries SEMA 2015 Build

MG: Proves that great and lesser minds can think alike! First, congratulations on picking a window van. Second, a van with a Parchment interior (much warmer than gray in my opinion). Third, I put everything on the driver's side as well. Fourth, I am never, ever posting a picture of my welding. Fifth, and this is probably only personal to me and my wife because we usually travel alone and rarely use the bench seat for passengers and we carry the head rests with us, but only install them on the bench upright when we do have passengers, the bench back is too high for my taste, because I like being able to use the mirror to look out the back windows. But, dude, I have no room to criticize the creation of a great mind like yours.

That looks fantastic! I like that it's metal and not big, blocky 2 x 4's and angle brackets. The bench looks super slick.

MG - that's absolutely beautiful work...

Is that 80/20 framing?? Wise choice - I've used it for quite a few things in laboratories...

Re: OPTIMA Batteries SEMA 2015 Build

I picked up parts from the laser cutter today and this happened...

Fits nicely inside the recess in the side door. I also radiused the edge of the panel so it fit in the door better.

forgive the ugly hardware in the sides... I'll have stainless button heads in there for final assembly.
