Re: New Member!
Not sure if 1st conversions were for VW or individuals, but Overland Journal quotes Alan West as 1961:

Re: New Member!
Awesome find! Oddly enough, mine has a Sportsmobile brochure but i have a Westfalia badge on the bottom of the rear seat (z-bed) which I never quite understood... Problem solved! Not to mention the fact that the interior matches other Westies I've seen around. Again, back to the oddballness... I suppose this could have been the last year of the German SMB conversions as I don't recall seeing one later than a '72
(EXCEPT FOR IN THE ATTACHED ARTICLE)!!!! DOH!

Re: New Member!
I know of a 73 and a 78 but the 78 was a SMB top only and the lower coversion was built by a different company. So the question would be if it has a SMB top is it an SMB. I don't think so according to the title as SMB is not mentioned but we will still accept it as one. The guy with the 73 had Alan ship him a SMB sticker but Sportsmobile had long got rid of any paperwork. If yours came with a SMB packet I think yours is all SMB
[edit...the 73 and the 78 had different interiors that showed the 73 was SMB according to the 73 owner]

Re: New Member!
Wow those brochures are really nice to have with you bus. I am not sure which would be harder to find but together it makes a nice old bus even nicer.
