Alabama Hills?

Looking at a few days camping in the Alabama Hills next spring, but it seems there was some recent concern about overcrowding and overuse. Anyone been there recently? Any suggestions on visiting (either pro or con)? - Thanks

I've camped there more than dozens of times. Yes, it is a bit more regulated now than when it was dispersed camping but it is still worth it. Just follow the signs and hopefully you'll find a nice spot

And with the new sprinter more recently:

More regulated but was still beautiful and fun. As said, watch for the signs on where camping is allowed and not allowed (day use only). We were there mid October.

The arch trail is great, the dark skies are great. It will be cold at night. I would not want to be there during or soon after rain. I would expect mid week will be pretty open.

I think the recent concern about overcrowding and overuse applies to the whole world.

I was in that exact spot a few weeks ago. I’ve been going there for years as well. Only camping on east side of Movie Ranch road now I biked all over and only counted 10 overnight camping spots, not like the old days…

It’s called a sports brella, game changer when sitting around a fire if it’s windy also the radiant heat capture is awesome, Merry Christmas
