Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Put in the overhead console power outlet, powered fused and redid the wiring for fantastic fan and both dome overrides, cut jagged hole in headliner and installed passenger dome light on driver side, rewired both dome lights to function both with and without the door/dash switch.

Gotta love 75º March!

After seeing Greg in Austin's Linexed hoop step on McBeast, I took my pathetic step with it's sad peeling black paint over to the Rhino guy and he sprayed it for $15. Now it's sexy black once again!

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Had the CB peaked and tuned, discovered at least some of my current antenna woes were that I'd run a visor screw through the coax cable (D'oh!), replaced with new antenna (also tuned) and coax with a new base for the bracket. Later I ran the new coax under the A-pillar cover whilst removing the old coax.

Hustler Antenna: $23.99
Valor Black Wafer (Base): $2.50
Tune Large CB: $26.00
1258 Coax RG58: $11.50
(Quick disconnect for antenna): $9.99

My antenna and CB are now for business not for looks.

Only two items left on the list for spring travel: install the new dome light and replace the plastic water knob with brass.

The "plastic water knob"? Are you talking about the fresh water inlet on the van body?

Putting a screw through a cable? Yeah, been there, done that.

This is the second one I've had fail and it wasn't even 8 months old.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Finished the console project by installing the second dome light and the wiring didn't work so I went back and redid both. Somehow the fantastic fan cover didn't fit so I made a bracket (really need to redo the whole thing, but not in the short term).

Of course the cab is covered with bits of wire and insulation, not to mention tools, wire and connector kits.

Re: What work did you do on your SMB today?

Started prepping my van today for the penthouse we will have installed at the end of the month. I need to strip the interior of my van of anything attached to the ceiling so they have a clear working area. I have uploaded two photo's to my album of the stripping I did today. Removed all the stuff from the restroom/closet area was well as the two aft walls. Also removed the passenger side overhead storage cabinet and a rear ceiling panel.
