Rob, older vans, 7.3 idi and 7.3 PSD (pre-97), had 2 batteries under the hood. I believe they were smaller in size tho.

I have looked under the hood of many vans over many years and yet to see two batteries mounted.
Just curious...
Especially if it had a current 7.3 PSD.

I'd actually like to move my battery from the engine bay to the frame... I have bought the box and some parts so far but I need more stuff to get it done.

this is in my spring plans for my Van. make a drop-down battery tray to hold 3-4 batteries - the 2 starting batts ad 1 or 2 house batts to go where the factory second stater battery is.

I have also pondered this but not sure how to go about the wiring or jump-start posts. What all is needed if you dont mind me asking?

My '96 Powerstroke (turbo Diesel) has a second factory installed battery under the hood, passenger side. Yes, it's smaller than the one inside the engine compartment on the driver's side, group 50 I think. And a special order battery at that. The Driver's side battery is a common group 65 battery, in stock just about everywhere.

I'm still collecting parts for the battery box, hardware etc... slowly.
But if I ever get to work on it I'll be sure to post something. I have in mind the dual frame mounted batteries the 6.0 vans - the wiring or at least a section of it.
