Outside Air Temperature

Has anyone found a nice aftermarket outside air temperature set-up for your van? I don't want to mess with replacing the rear view mirror for an electronic one with all the goodies in it and have only found one at JC Whitney on-line.

Thanks -
Phil

Craig (calclimber) has this sweet wireless setup from ? Harbor Freight?

He's got the sensor mounted inside the spare on his aluminess. Wireless is the bomb, I've got a wired sensor and I hate it cause the wire is never long enough to see from where I am.

Outside Temp

Thanks Jage. I will search over at Harbor Freight and see what I can come up with.

My old Subaru wagon had a good outside air thermometer on it, and it was invaluable for winter driving. Any time the temp got near 34 degrees F or below, you would learn to slow down and keep an eye out for ice, even with studded snows on.

I don't understand why an outside air thermo isn't standard as a safety feature for most vehicles up here in the frozen desert.

That's the one... I should have realized Bronco_hauler doesn't have the 50 and I never really checked out his interior that close. Duh!

So did you buy it at a HF store or online? I've got a store mapquested for tomorrow because I really want to change mine to wireless!

I looked for that one after our meet and it no longer existed at HF. So I found a similar one at a weather station site somewhere online.

I will go by my local HF today but that's the way that place is sometimes they don't carry something for that long. The brand of my unit is acurite and here's just one link I found. Mine is the fifth one down the list.

Thanks for the info. Just ordered the one that calclimber has from weatherconnect web site. Seems to be pretty much what I want.

BIG numerals are easy to read.

We should all buy the same one, then we can check the temps in each other's vans when we get together!

I'm debating on size- Craig's is thicker but smaller and I've seen it, the big numbers one is thinner but the display is nice... hmmm hmmm...
