Re: Portable solar

I looked at a Zamp Solar 80 watt portable set up last week. It was compact, came with a case, and was simple to set up. They have an optional plug in accessory to make setting up and plugging in a snap.

We have one and like it. It supplements the Kyocera on the van, let's us park in the shade and still charge the batteries.

We thought it was broken, sent it to Zamp for repairs, they returned it and it still didn't work. Turned out, there was a fault in Fresno's wiring. Had good service from John; almost traded it for a 125 (think that's the right size) but it was too big for the space we have in the van.

Re: Portable solar

I have now tried the Renergy panel and controller I bought. Works like a bas@#$d. No problems at all with output, you can almost hear the battery purring. Having messed with it a bit it still seems solid and well made and certainly works as described. I know this because someone left a light on after the last trip and drained the battery completely, it didn't even kick on the door alarm. Three hours in the sun and it was happy.
