Re: suggest some lights for the front of my E350

The light pattern is interesting.
nice flat top with kinda a W shape to the bottom, if that makes any sense... The amount of light is amazing, just as wide as the road with no side lighting like fog lamps. Just to see how they worked with on coming traffic I had them on and only got flashed once last night. They reach out very far, hard to say how far because most of the roads here are twisty. I was even able to see two coyotes way ahead!

I used the supplied wiring kit, but upgraded the wire guage. Constant hot supply for those just in case situations.
I also upgraded the bolts to stainless steel, since it's mounted on my bumper I didn't want to have any rust issues with that CHEAP China made nut/bolts.

switch is easy to reach and out of line of sight.

Very nice job Bbasso. I have PIAA lights installed in the identical spot as you. Our van's look like twins now.

I even did a write up on the install process many years ago viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1581&hilit=PIAA

Re: suggest some lights for the front of my E350

Just before I drilled through the bumper I took a second look and saw that the bumper brackets were going to be in the way... which is why I went closer towards the center.

Yup, your's does look good! nice write up too.

Re: suggest some lights for the front of my E350

You don’t need to drill the Ford front bumpers. You can use the Ford bolts that mount the bumper to the bumper brackets on both sides. I used a scrap of square tubing and cut it the long way to make two pieces of “L” channel out of it. Then shaped it, bent the “L” from 90deg to about 45deg to give the back of the light housing clearance at the vans grill. One of my older vans I used bigger “L” channel and mounted it up higher and facing forward over the bumper for some bigger lights I had back then. One note - be careful with the Ford bolt threads! (Assembly line crap)

On my van, there is no room for any kind of bracket. Maybe your bumper was moved due to the 4WD addition?

Re: suggest some lights for the front of my E350

Oh sorry, yes my van is setup and waiting for my custom Buckstop being built. If you need to, you should be able to loosen the bumper mount nuts and move the bumper slightly downward to give yourself a little bit of clearance. With the stock vans you need to use the wider angle iron I was talking about and flip it around so it sticks out forward over the bumper. You also need to mount it so the bracket is high enough off the bumper to clear the lights stud and nut. It is easier to just drill the bumper but I always plan for my future mods like if you buy an aftermarket bumper someday, the stock one is still in good shape to sell to help pay for the new one.
