For the cost of having a conversion like that done I think you'd be better off just finding a rear axle out of a wrecked Superduty and stuffing it under there. Much stronger axle, full floater, with disc brakes and bolt pattern matching the front axle.

Just exploring possibilities, and yes a full rear axle replacement is a possibility... As is a spacer / adapter (least desired) and redrilling front hubs to the 8x6.5 spacing...

No small part of my concern is width though, as my van is a sliding door model and 35x12.50s on 17x9 rims WILL stick out further than the factory wheels and 245/70R16s by a good amount. I believe there are slding door extenders of sorts though.

Rear spacers that convert 8 x 6.5" to 8 x 170mm are readily available.

If you are planning on putting Bushwhacker flares on the van you'll very likely need rear spacers/adapters. If you go for the F-series FF rear axle I think you can spec one a little wider to eliminate the need for spacers; the guy you want to answer that is Carringb.....or a few others around here.

If you go from 3.73 to 4.56 gearing in a D60 you'll need a different carrier too. I think anything lower than 4.10's requires a different carrier than a 3.73.

Okay so here is the plan, and it is going to require some added budget as I got pinched due to current economic conditions... But moving forward...

AJs 4x4 conversion.
4.56 gearing
35x12.50/17s I am happier than I ought to be with my Venom Power Terra Hunter XTs, probably tap them again for the 35s. I do NOT want 9" wide rims though. I would like 17x8 but am having trouble finding them. I know I can do the OE 17x7.5 wheels from an F250 / F350 but they are 1/2" narrower than spec for the tires...

Correction, Looks like American Racing has the Outlaw II black in the size I need. Not cheap, but certainly an option...

Why AJ's? I have heard mixed reviews.

There is:
QuadVan - Portland
UJOR in Denver
Advanced in SLC

And fwiw - there are five complete and very good condition Dana 50 IFS TTB's at a salvage yard here in SLC if you know anyone who can adapt that to your rig. Great ride.

Good question. Simple answer. Coil spring front end vs. leaf spring of the UJOR. And I do not believe Quad Van does pre 2000 vans... I could be wrong though.

I am wanting to go with a solid axle but coil spring suspension. I've not heard anything bad about AJs but I am a long way away from there... Honestly if someone offered a kit that met my needs I would contract a local builder, most likely "The Shop Off Road" just south of Houston...

I think from what I see from QuadVan they, and AJs are doing kind of the same thing. F350 front end / suspension under an Econoline van.

I wouldn't even be terribly offended at a Sterling rear swap to boot to get the full F350 brake setup...

Ray is that TTB the same one that came in stock vans?

Also, did you move or are you out there skiing?

Lol! Out skiing on our annual trip. In SLC area now, heading to Colorado end of next week depending on snow. We will swing by Colorado Camper Van, see REF, etc. Looks like maybe Mammoth in early May before heading home.

The TTB's DANA 50 IFS never came in stock vans. Quadvan and Agile used the front ends that came in the 4x4 F250's and Full Size Broncos. Those were all leaf spring mounted. Both conversions added spring perches for coils and trailing arms for front rear location.

Interestingly, Quadvan had a mod that widened the track to the stock E Series front track and offered 2x 1.75" rear axle spacers to have front rear tracks match. Agile chose to go the other way and use the F250 TTB in stock track width which matches the rear E series rear ace width. So, QuadVan's TTB conversions (stopped offering in 2004) had ~ 3" wider track than Agile.

I really wish someone was still offering the TTB Dana 50 IFS conversion. The ride and handling are superb. I could provide lots of dimensions and info having had a QVan got 13 years and now two Agile's.

Just a note, F250 (1980-1995) and some early 80's F350 were the only TTB with leaf springs that I am aware of. Thats the Dana 50 TTB or the Dana 44 HD TTB.

F150/Bronco (1980-1996) were Dana 44 TTB with coil springs.

I'm not sure (aside from spring mounts) how much different the 3/4 ton front end differed from the 1/2 ton front end.

We used to swap Dana 60's into F250's pretty often, now I wish I had held on to a couple of those TTB's.

I would be interested in tackling a TTB swap someday, does anyone know of any sort of write up? Or any idea how much of the factory F250 stuff can be used and how much needs to be fabricated?

There are a few write-up here and Exped Portal.
Here is one:
https://www.sportsmobileforum.com/fo...log-15960.html

The QV mod to widen the front track is pretty cool. Means all the stock E Series steering tie rods are used. Different arm. Different pivot point for the axles.
