That’s the one! Ok, now back to MGs more wholesome and yet still exciting but in a different way, Ford content.

Ha! Oh no no no... I'm not making a run at Aluminess. I barely had enough shop space to make this rack and it's not even full length!

I realize this post is from last year regarding the MG kit I have a couple pointers for the install as far as shocks and brackets ect... I have never done any type of kit nor have I seen any of the kits but MG's looks well built from the pics. A few pointers in my drive way fab skills, as far as shock installation/compression, measure your eye to eye/stem distance compress shock and use bailing wire around the base of each eye running the length of the body. Once mounted cut wire free. It is a lot easier to compress a shock with your body weight than pushing up from under a vehicle! For proper shock length, cycle axle travel measure brackets mounting hole to hole at compression and extension and get on your preferred shock site SPEC sheet page and leave roughly 2/3's for compression on length. You do not want shocks to bottom out or pull out either. As far as drilling holes in the frame I am not a big fan of that. Having had commercial trucks and seeing cracks starting at drilled holes and even factory holes I cringe at that. I try to use existing holes such as my original radius arm mount holes and make a kicker back to another hole if possible. My trac/panhard bar mount is welded and through bolts were used in existing holes. Having no choice I did shave off the bottom rolled flange of my cross member for clearance, but I welded shaped flat plate across the front of the cross member and tied/welded it to the trac/panhard frame mount for more support. I overly built and secured the frame mount side of my T/P bar mount because I have seen these mounts ripped away from frames in the past. As far as coil springs I ordered mine from a small outfit in central Cali called Valley Spring Works. They are still in business and can make coils in a progressive rate or continuous rate. By all means I encourage all to make their own Expedition vehicles and I am sure most the kits if not all are proven. It is a good for each owner to install your own kits so that you understand how the suspension works and cam make trail repairs if need be!

Jsweezy's shop is plenty big enough to install some fabrication equipment in, and ladders don't take much room at all. Joint venture and all, like in China, but much closer and with better QC.
