I'd recommend a good halogen for fogs. Fogs are also really good in snow, but LEDs (and HIDs) don't get warm enough to prevent snow buildup.
This is what I plan on upgrading to:

I have some cheap amber fogs now which work but don't have a great pattern, the PIAAs are brighter and have a better pattern for highway driving.

Yeah, those were the ones I was leaning towards. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something else in the newschool LED world. The snow melting ability of the halogens is a big plus here in the mtns

Or Baja Designs.

Hadn't come across them before. Nice to see another quality manufacturer. Lifetime warranty is nice, but I do wish it said where they were made.

Good question. I know that there are LED diode components made in the US, but I'm not sure if there are full lamp assemblies, made of US made parts, in the US.
I think the big difference between the US-based name brand lamps, and the ones direct from overseas, are that you get support after the sale with the US based companies.

And make sure you check your regulations. Here in CA you are limited in how many you can have uncovered and their location.

Yes, but as far as I'm concerned my 38" Rigid LED bar is a single light, and you can have four.

Does it matter how many you have if they're covered while not in use?

Re: Lights... PIAA, Hella, etc etc
The night is for campfires, adult beverages and relaxing.
When I got my SMB in 2005 I ordered it with two Hella 500's on the front bumper. It didn't take long to realize that they were about as effective as the parking lights that came with The Van. I took them off.
My 67 year old eyes don't like night time driving. So when night falls, I get off the road and head for the campground, and a glass or two of Knob Creek.

Ditto on that, but when it's necessary to drive at night, I want lights that turn night to day!

Exactly. I rarely intend to drive it night, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen!
