BC,
Just a note
Are you planning on going with a larger tire?
I noticed that you do not have the Aluminess Bumpers
I did have to add a spacer on the Aluminess spare carrier and it
also rubs were the tire meets the top of the bumper.

Toyos
Keep in mind that Toyo A/Ts are not as durable as M/Ts. As to noise, they are quieter than Goodyear MTRs or BFG Mud, but not as quiet as A/Ts. I have a diesel so I don't hear much of anything but the diesel..

Big thumbs up on the Toyo M/T's. Just got back from a long weekend mtn biking in SW UT - had to get out of the snow for a few...
Road noise - maybe a touch louder than the BFG AT's they replaced but overall I hardly could tell a difference. Definitely quieter than other MT's my buddies have used - BFG MT and Goodyear MTR's.
Snow - zero complaints. We've been blasted this winter here in the Wasatch Mtns and although i wasn't driving the van regularly I never felt unsafe. FYI - I live @ 1.5 miles up a steep dirt road that is only plowed. No sand/salt so it's snowpacked conditions Nov-Mar. Deep snow performance was awesome, snowpacked roads are fine, ice was OK-aside from running studded snows I think most tires would slide a little w/ a 10000 lb vehicle.
Big thumbs up too in the rock throwing dept. Mt BFG AT's would blast the van w/ pebbles etc... I spent about 50 miles driving on back jeep roads this weekend to and from the trailheads and I didn't notice the van getting peppered.
Bottom line - I am very happy w/ my decision on the Toyo MT's. Road noise is not an issue. Snow performance is excellent. Mileage really didn't change. And, the E load rating is key on our hefty rigs
FYI - 285/75 16's
Cheers,
-d

I decided to go with the Toyo Open Country AT's instead of the MT's. We will seldom be in mud, and mostly back road, fire road, mining roads, etc. They look like they will be much quieter on the main roads. I also noticed on the website that in the LT 285/75R17 size, the max load is 3970#'s for the AT's where the MT in the same size was 3195#'s. Both are Load range E. I hope to get our van back from Salem Kroger in 2 to 3 weeks, so will let you know how they do in a month or so. oclv

alta, thanks, was hoping you would weigh in and specifically interested in your snow experience. That appears to be the only one area of slight debate on the Toyo's, with some saying great and others saying so-so.

Just curious, how is the tire longevity (wear) of the Toyo tires? How about the AT versus the MT? Thanks.

was curious about that too, but a bunch of the guys at the tire shop said they were wearing well on their rigs with combo on road and some off. With one caveat....rotate 'em often. One guy said he had 30k miles on his but recommended rotating at oil change intervals which for me is about every 3-4k miles.
But the fact that there is zero mileage warranty on the Toyo MT is also a clue, no doubt because they assume aggressive MT's like this are getting hammered offroad, even raced.

FWIW
A little off subject but when I was in Fresno to have my '08 brakes worked on, Heber told me those aren't stock E350 brakes. With the SMB 4x4 package, SMB swaps the stock out with F450's.
