As stated, compressing the leaf springs is a task the only way without removal is a forklift or long travel jack on one side but it would not be true since the axle will also minimally move fore and aft with the straightening and bowing of the spring along with angle (degree) of whatever lift block size if you have one as the spring flatens. Having several drivines laying around helps but I have found that on the van I measured at ride height and the amount of exposed spline is directly related to the length of your slip yoke. I have roughly about 3" showing on one and 1 3/4" on the other. The lengths were on purpose because my front and rear shafts are identical in length for interchangeable abillity. I was recently under the van and decided I don't like there rear with so much so I will be adding a 1" driveline yoke spacer. I am comfortable at the front length at 1 3/4".
