I'll place a strong vote for researching flat towing capabilities via the "used to be" annual article in Motorhome magazine. I would also vote for towing a 4x4 versus going with 4x4 van, even though Sportsmobile considers 4x4 as standard these days and does a deduct if one orders 2wd. A few years back we towed a well loaded U-Haul from TX to San Jose CA behind our MB Sportsmobile. A modest adjustment in driving habits was all it took, allowing extra acceleration time and braking space.

I just added a Letsgoaero trailer to my setup for extra gear. Loving it so far. I thought about a Jeep but a couple 4x4 or utv rentals a year cure my off road itch. The new Little Giant trailers from LGA are even more off road oriented.

Suzuki Sidekicks/Samuris are excellent for towing.

Ya CarringB, that's what I'm talking about... I suspect you're V10 barely notices it's back there. I'm curious to know how my e250 will do. Need to take mine to the scales and see what it weighs.

I hear those responses w the trailer. Part of the desire is to have a nimble exploration vehicle once at our general destination... rather than trying to get our camper deep into the woods. Thinking visiting Moab and camping along the river, then being able to do some of the moderate trails... or out to the ocean beaches and unhooking the dingy for beach drives.
