Re: Trailer Project

A little more research on suspension.. current springs are 14" as they sit right now.. that will obviously compress some with more weight and load. And the trailer sits a few inches high for my truck, so I need to lower it a little anyway..

The current airbags I have are:

P/N #: 50250
Max Height: 7.1
Compressed Height: 1.9
Max Diameter: 7.0
Max Load @ 100psi: 2210
Design Height: 4.0-6.0

These other airbags would definitely fit my existing brackets:

P/N #: 50201
Max Height: 9.1
Compressed Height: 2.3
Max Diameter: 7.0
Max Load @ 100psi: 2270
Design Height: 5.0-7.0

And these might fit, but have better working heights, so I ordered them:

P/N #: 58343
Max Height: 10.5
Compressed Height: 2.8
Max Diameter: 7.0
Max Load @ 100psi: 2030
Design Height: 5.5-7.5

We'll see.

Re: Trailer Project

Installed the taller airbags yesterday.. They work, but I don't like the angle they are at when low on pressure, so I think I'm going to redo.

But progress is slowly happening. I have all the metal I need now, including sheet metal sides cut to size, and replacement wheel spacers are showing up tomorrow.

Wheels arrived, tires are mounted, spare tire holder built, jerry can holders and propane tank mounts are ready to go, a bunch more welding and fab to happen... when I get around to it.

Re: Trailer Project

Looking good. Looks like you decided to go with the parking brake idea. New wheels and tires look good.

Nope.. Just perched on the side of the hill with no brakes. I like to live dangerously.

The lines you see are the airlines for the airbags.

Re: Trailer Project

Was thinking (dangerous) before you put the floor down, maybe weld in a channel / bracket to allow easy repositioning of the upper shock mount, in case that is desirable.

(if you need to come by to check out the flooring stuff we discussed, let me know. We are leaving first thing Sat Morning)

Looking good!!

Floor won't be down for a month at this rate.. no hurry!

And it's easy enough to weld under the floor if needed.

Re: Trailer Project

Progress is slow.. Haven't been home for a weekend in over a month.. But [slowly] getting things done. Rails are mostly welded, started fabbing up the tongue box frame today.. And I'm intending to be home this weekend, so should be able to get some work done!

Re: Trailer Project

Yep, that's what I am working on right now. I will be adding a stinger to my utility trailer's A-frame and welding on a Bullydog hitch coupler. which makes me wonder if I should be adding these to my completed projects:
