1995 Dodge SMB Penthouse 10K miles auction

I'm unaffiliated. I just saw this on the Bring A Trailer site.

1995 Dodge SMB EB w/Penthouse top, walk through interior, 10K miles, current bid about $23.000. The auction closes in 3 days.
This thing looks spotless in, out and underneath. There's a free Carfax in the add and the seller claims that everything is functional.

Sold today for $38,010…plus a 5% buyers premium which brings it to $39,990.

I think this is a relevant channel.

I parachuted into the comments for a bit yesterday, neither the bidders nor the dealer seller had a lot of depth about SMB Q&A…this is a whole new population for these vans.

I remember riding in a Dodge work van in the late '70s and I had to put one foot on top of the other to shut the door. It looks like there was still a shortage of foot room on the passenger side in the mid '90s. Are they still that way? I thought then that I would never buy one of those vans if that problem still existed.

I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 SMB short WB with 110,000 problem-free miles. The foot-space is tiny on the pax side...but the rest of the chassis/engine and SMB conversion couldn't bee better!

My wife (then girlfriend) and I bought a 94 Dodge B250 conversion van w/ 90k miles for $3k. Put in a 2x4 bed frame and a sailboat toilet, and lived out of it for a year to help pay off student loans. Sold the van for $3k once we were done with it.

Never gave us any mechanical issues! Loved that thing.

The last generation Dodge vans from 1998 to 2003 had the engine dog house moved much closer to the firewall. The passenger legroom is much better because you can swing your legs in behind the housing along with beside it allowing some fidgeting on long trips.

Pure conjecture on my part, but I think they narrowed the dog house and moved the engine closer to the vehicle centerline.

Leggs is not fond of the 1979 with the 440. Not much room, a dip in the floor beside the wheel well, and she has the new seats back so far she claims the passenger window is in front of her limiting her view substantially.

She is, however, still a great cook so I accept her comments.Click image for larger version
