Sportsmobile RV Propane Tank - $160

I salvaged this tank from an Econoline based Sportsmobile to use in my own build, but have decided to not use propane. These RV horizontal tanks are crazy expensive new, so hoping to pass this along to someone who wants to save some money.

Located in Tucson, AZ, although I tend to get out to Los Angeles every couple of months. Can also ship it at cost.

Fat tank is nearly identical to the Manchester propane tank I recently purchased. That style of tank apparently is no longer manufactured and I got the very last one they told me. I don’t remember exactly what I paid but I think it was close to $800, so that’s a real deal. Shipping could be a bit difficult though due to the fact that it once contained propane. If I remember my brand new tank had to be sent by truck because it was considered hazardous material.

Greetings arctictraveler, Kendel, -- My van also has this "same looking propane tank." Just wondering - would the regulator be high pressure or low pressure -- I'm gonna guess low pressure ? Its 2002 vintage I think - and probably ready for replacement --

Thanks -

If nobody wants it here, I will throw it up on eBay for $200. Seems like people have no problem shipping used tanks there. If I need to ship I will just unscrew the valve so that it's inert metal, the same thing I have to do when I scrap CNG tanks.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but all these vans used a two-stage RV type regulator. Pretty standard stuff.

Russ, these may help

Member CDACamper has a very good Thread on refurbishing one of these tanks (think you'll find post #16 interesting):

I'll happily take it. I'll send a PM for the details.

Since Kendal has not answered yet, I thought I would break the suspense. The tank posted at the top of the thread was a much older 1977 Manchester from the early 70-80's RV's. I picked it up yesterday.

The tank he was advertising is the one in the picture below which he says is off of a SMB and is dated 1992. I never saw that tank so I have nothing more to add. As far as I know, he is negotiating the sale of the SMB tank.
