WTB Full Size Roof Basket

I've been looking for a full sized roof basket for a little while. I haven't found much, thought I'd post here.

Here's kinda what I'm looking for:
- black
- strong enough to walk on
- covers the bulk of the top of a fullsized van
- reasonably close to boulder, co

I'm hoping I don't have to pay for a brand new one...

Re: WTB Full Size Roof Basket

Isn't there a member here, located in Colorado, who has built custom roof racks for other people. Unsure of price, but worth some searching. I can't recall any names, but I believe he built a roof rack for a blue hightop van that's also here. Sorry I can't offer more insight.

EDIT: check out this thread

I know this doesn't meet all your criteria, but a good deal nevertheless.

Not mine, not affiliated, blah blah blah.

Re: WTB Full Size Roof Basket

Zaskoda: I was looking for the same thing and ended up whipping one together on my own since I got a killer deal on the rack. I will try to dig up some better photos but here is basically what I ended up with.

The kargomaster rack has 6 support bars that I ended up bolting diamond plate onto with several aluminum braces & u-bolts. It's about a year old and has not started sagging like expanded metals do. Also I walk up there and load a ton of gear on the van almost weekly. The bonus of course is my awning mounts right up to the side of the rack giving me a 1" over hang on the gutters so no rain ever drips in, which is pretty nice up here in the NW. More pics to follow.

@ProfessorPaddle - Pretty sharp... That would do the trick. I'd like to have a bit of a lip on the back, but otherwise... that's basically it.

I'm gonna have to buy a welder.

Hi Professor --

Is you awning mounted on the van, or on the rack?

Thanks!
