Anyone going to Pebble Beach or the Historics?

I was just wondering if anyone is going to any of the automotive events in and around Monterey this week/weekend?

We always camp at the track (Laguna Seca) and usually see at least a few SMBs around the area. Shelby is the featured brand this year at the historics so that will be great. We were down there last weekend for some of the practice sessions and we went to cars and coffee at Canepa Design and saw the last (real) AC Cobra ever made as well as a lot of other really cool things...

Stop by if you are around...I have my magnet on my left rear door...

Re: Anyone going to Pebble Beach or the Historics?

We used to go on Friday of the big weekend, till they raised the price ($70) for that day.

Some really good times have been had there. Seeing how quickly the F1 Ferrari went around the track really opened my eyes! Being able to walk up to several 250 GTO's was a lifetime experience. Watching a rich Dutch industrialist wreck his Formula One car (again) hurt.

Let's get together on this next year. I wouldn't mind camping there for the weekend activities.

Made it on Saturday, awesome as always, saw a red Sporty camping up on the hill by turn 10/11. Maybe next year we will camp, looked fun.

Re: Anyone going to Pebble Beach or the Historics?

jima,

Is your van white, Penthouse top, 4x4 with Vantastic plates? If so we saw it on Friday after the Pacific Grove show.

If you are going to camp you need to try to get a spot really early when the renwals come up in October or November.
Come spring the Historics camping spots other then general camping are always completely sold out.
All of the camping spots are offered for renewal first to the original purchaser of the spot and if they do not renew the spot they go up for sale on a first come first served basis. So unless someone stops going that spot never becomes available to get. We have had ours for years (Grand Prix #145) for both the ALMS races and the Historics. (we also camp there for other events and when we just want to go camping close to home) Our neighbors never change for the Historics but from time to time they do for the ALMS races. The guy we got our spot from had been going to it for something like15 years before giving it up to us. Here is our view at the site.
