I was having a recall done on my Transit a few days ago (flex disc, bad design from Ford) when I saw a Cutaway with a Knapheide (KUV) utility box on it in the showroom amongst all the blingy F150's. I thought this was pretty unusual to be on display but it was a chance to really go over a Knapheide box which I've always wanted to do. If I were a solo traveler I really think one of these would be a great way to live and carry all my junk. Tons of exterior storage and still a good bit of room on the inside. The only challenge would be insulation. Also, a nice shelf on the inside all the way up both sides. It's really a great design that I'm surprised I haven't seen used by overlanders.
Anyway, I was looking at the window sticker and this Cutaway chassis had a 6.2 gas engine in it! I have seen these in F250's but had no idea Ford was putting them in the van cutaways.
I'm not sure if this is newsworthy or not but I thought it was intriguing. It's a pretty good powerplant I've heard. It's mated to a 6-speed Torqshift trans.
