Great story of world travel

I saw this today and found it to be very interesting if not inspiring.

Granted it is NOT a van but its still a great story.

Enjoy...

Just think of all of the things he can think about that he (they before his wife passed) have seen and done...

I would love to do that even just in the US, so much to see and do...

I'm lucky have done quite a bit of traveling, 10 countries and 38 states.
I would love to do a long small roads only trip.
I would like to do Route 20 from Coast (Oregon) to Coast (Massachusetts) as I grew up in NY in a town where it was the main drag...

Now if I could just find a sponsor I could get started this summer...

Not that I would want to go every place that guy went, I do find it facinating. Kind of reminds me of this thread:
Lubumbashi-to-Kinshasa that I thought was posted here some time back.
All I can say is those kinds of people have balls. I'll stick to the safer spots.

Me too! I've been to 17 countries and 49 states (just can't seem to get to North Dakota). I would gladly put stickers all over my Sportsmobile if it would pay for me to travel for the rest of my life. Okay Sponsors, where are you?

26 states, yes I know I am behind, 14 countries on 4 continents.
Small roads are the best for leisurely travel.
Lets see how small the world is, where in NY did you grow up? US20 was our main street as well in Waterloo.

Why would anyone want to go on a trip through the Congo? I'm not that patient with hassles.

Re: Great story of world travel

I've been lots of places, spent 600K+ miles driving around Europe, Asia, N & S America and wouldn't even consider going some of the places he has been.

Even if you don't travel as much as some one else, it is fine as long as you enjoy where you are and where you travel.

We were like country neighbors Larrie...
Twin Brothers from different mothers...
I grew up in Cazenovia a whopping 60 miles down 20 from you...
I knew there was something I liked about you...
First it was road racing and the Split Window VW Bus now this...

Now that I know that was Watkins Glen your old home town track? I went there for the first time in 1970 or 71 with my dad, his buddy and we hung out with Don Yenko of the famed Yenko Chevy in PA.
I was hooked and have been going to road races every year since. I even drove my old van around the track at Van America 1978 or 79.
