Re: I find this strangly apealing....

Note that the speedometer only goes to 60MPH. This vehicle probably would not be appealing to anyone who has ridden in a military convoy in one of these things -- unless, of course they are feeling nostalgic. I've been on way too many bumpy roads in one of these things sitting in back on a wooden bench crammed in with a bunch of other guys. Nope! Doesn't interest me.

Oh, and "1968 Kaiser Jeep - Military 2.5 Ton 6X6, Command Center Only 17K Miles!!!" Wow! Only 17,214 miles. That's just amazing. I guess the need for new tires after only 17K miles is because it has been sitting in a lot somewhere since 1968. Either we're missing a couple of zeros on the odometer or this thing is so uncomfortable to drive it has only been driven 17,241 butt-beating, arm-straining miles.

Come on, it has a "PTO driven wench". What else could you ask for?

Herb
Herb: This would be a good replacement for the SMB you just sold. Think of how nice it would look in your driveway.

Re: I find this strangly apealing....

When I first read the title, I read 'appalling' not apealing. I guess either could apply.

Re: I find this strangly apealing....

Bigger tires in super single tires would give a 70mph speed and anything Military has tires relpaced every two years not based on wear. It would be better if it was alittle newer (better engine) and could last forever. If you don't need the load cap you could even convert to single rear axle.

I did spend many a mile in Convoys and was even involved in testing when the Army was evaluating Humvee's (I thought they were crap)
