I managed a brief conversation with Alan a couple years ago (just after the transition), and this video just confirmed my suspicions of why the entire Sportsmobile West team made the transition with him.

This interview also confirmed my suspicion that SMB West was the innovator of the SMB family. I'm glad to say my 1998 was built in Fresno and am looking forward to taking delivery of my new Classic in the not-so-near future.
