Re: Goler Wash/Barker Ranch/DV Spring 12

Looks pretty straight forward. First person in makes the loop and grabs a spot ,you just keep driving until you see a van!

Re: Goler Wash/Barker Ranch/DV Spring 12

I might be the first one down there. I am heading out from Rohnert Park between 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM friday morning. I want to get through Oakland before the commute. When I get there I will drive all the way around the loop to see if anyone else got there before me.

I'll be right behind you by about an hour. I always take 37 to 80-780-680-580-5. Change drivers every 2 hours. You saw the suggestion to cross over on Stockdale Highway at Bakersfield.

Just beware of ANYTHING that looks slightly wet. The stuff is grayish and will sink your rig. I'd suggest locking hubs before leaving the highway. The loop road is a free for all. Just pick a spot and camp. As I posted in my blog, it feels like walking on grass around there. Fat guys like me fall down in chairs at this place Some of the spots are solid though.

Oh...BTW anybody wanting to camp somewhere not too far from Isabella, this site just minutes out of Inyokern and is a super nice site which can also be seen here as I have already posted. It's a really nice spot to overnight at rather than the long drive to the DV area.

Fuel up in Ridgecrest. I dont remember any services in Trona. Gas Buddy doesn't show any listing either.

Re: Goler Wash/Barker Ranch/DV Spring 12

FYI: regarding fuel in Trona.
There are 2 gas stations, but I heard 2 weeks ago that neither have any fuel. Ridgecrest has several stations. And of course there is one station in Panamint Springs (always more expensive).

Hi Chris
The trail is listed in Massey/Wilson Backcountry adventures (SoCal) Desert trail #37.
They list it as 13.9 miles with a travel time of 2-hours.
It ends right at the turn-off to Goler Wash
(check your email)

When I went with DaveB and a few others, I think it took more than 2 hours. I would allow 3 to be safe.
