So I just found out there is a new set of dry-camping only beach camping spots that opened up at Dockweiler RV park recently. Looks like the word hasn't fully gotten out yet, so I booked a spot for the weekend of August 6-9. The first night of the grunion run is Sunday from 9:45-11:45. There are fire pits on the beach so should be fun.
There were about a half dozen spots available for that weekend if anyone wants to book a spot and head down. I was having trouble booking online but the folks on-site picked up on the first ring and got me dialed in.

The grunion run on four consecutive nights during the highest tides of the month. The best nights to see grunion are usually the second and third nights of the run if anyone wants to grab a spot for Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday nights. No guaranties they pick that beach, but it looks like an ideal spot.
