IKON SKI Adventure 2022/2023 - Our Plans

Well, we are getting ready to head out for our "annual" ski trip. Last two seasons were a bust due to Covid and lack of snow. Finally looks like the time is right again to venture out and get back to making tracks!

Our plan is a departure from San Francisco next week, head up to Tahoe area and then on to Mammoth. After that we are heading to SLC. Not sure if we will venture further east into CO on this trip. Just have to see how the snow conditions and diesel prices stack up. Return date is planned for mid April, so lots of opportunities to explore/connect.

We would love to meet up with any members who are in the areas and maybe get some runs together. I will post up here as often as I can about our plans. Having done this a bunch of times, we and our ski/board friends know how fun this is!

A couple of resorts have "informal" niches we sometimes find we can tuck into but these have ben greatly reduced

If any one has a driveway to share, we are super respectful, fun and helpful people. 100% self contained, but if an electrical hook up is available, that is always a nicety, but absolutely not necessary. Of course, willing to contribute for accommodating us. Please PM me if a possibility.

Looking forward to seeing some of you on the journey! Thanks!

Tetons are getting hit hard Ray. If for some reason the other locations don’t have the snow let us know. Will have a driveway available 2/17 through 2/20 on the Idaho side if your interested.

Drop on by Ray, the driveway is empty. Ober Gatlinburg is just an hour away and has an epic .5 inches of manmade powder on average, not for the faint of heart, but you guys are experienced and might live.

Sounds like an excellent couple of months. Enjoy! I'll be up at Sugarbowl on Valentines day with my s.o. If you happen to find yourself in that neck of the woods we'd be glad to catch some runs with you. Otherwise enjoy your trip! Ive always wanted to go to Pagosa springs in the winter....

Enjoy Ray,
We go from San Diego to a night in the woods around Salina UT then to another near Craig CO and a couple days at Steamboat followed by a few at Winter Park. Those resorts both IKON and both north of the 70 a bit...then we flow down to the 70 and hit either A Basin and/or Copper always with hopes of catching Aspen on the way back. Its a great benefit to have the IKON. There is a FB group of IKON pass van dwellers or something close. They may be helpful too. Enjoy

Not sure if you know Benton Hot springs, but when you are at mammoth…always pretty easy to score a site out there midweek in the winter!!

At all costs avoid squaw and alpine on the weekends!! They park out at 9am or earlier…total zoo

Potentially useful info here: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/07/t...ng-oregon.html

Where #Vanlife Meets #Skibum
In the Pacific Northwest, ski resorts set aside spots in their parking lots for vans and R.V.s, creating overnight communities of skiers and riders. One writer toured three Oregon resorts to test the scene.

Ray,
We're located near Mammoth and have some details to share (P.M. sent).
