Jackson, WY adventures
We're in Jackson, WY for the next week or two and would welcome any tips on places to go or friendly people to meet.
Appreciate some of the previous threads regarding adventures in this area. The Bridger-Teton thread is great. We drove the whole length of the Grays River -- longest undammed river in Wyoming. Beautiful and peaceful country. The rapids in the Alpine Canyon of the Snake River were also a lot of fun. Pictures coming soon.

Jackson, WY adventures
Our favorites are the Snake River Brewery in town, Adblock or two off the beaten path where the locals gather. It's an awesome place with great food and beer. Also, if you have the bikes, the paved path along the Teton Park road is a sweet 10 mi or so ride each way, and the ride/drive around Jenny Lake is really beautiful as well. Signal Mtn campground/marina/etc is great but busy, we really like camping up on the north end on the Yellowstone Hwy at Lizard Creek, but that's getting further from town than you may want to be.

Re: Jackson, WY adventures
Places to eat:
Merry Piglets for Mexican food located in town, just off the square to the North.
Leeks Pizza and Marina for beer and pizza located 1 mile North of Colter Bay in the North part of the Park. Aways from town but is the best pizza.
Back Country Provisions for deli sandwiches located just off the square to the West.
The Snake River Brewery that 86Scotty mentioned is good. Used to be a limited menu but now serves quite a variety. Beer menu is extensive.
Several photo galleries in town by local photographers. Our favorite is Henry Holdsworth's 'Wild by Nature Gallery'. Most of his images are of Yellowstone and Grand Teton scenery and wildlife.
Great views from just about anywhere in the Park. There has been a bull moose hanging out along the river near the bridge at Moose and bear 610 and her three cubs are regularly seen near the Jackson Lake Dam and Willow Flats/Oxbow area.
The bike path is now finished all the way from town to Jenny Lake. You can rent bikes in town or at Dornans, just East of the bridge at Moose.
You can also rent kayaks. String Lake and the Oxbow are great places to paddle. You will see plenty of water fowl and most likely see wildlife while paddling the Oxbow.
If you are looking for a place to boondock, try the East side of the Park, North of the town of Kelly. Its on Forest Service land at the base of Shadow Mountain. Signal Mountain and Lizard Creek are our favorite campgrounds and there are showers at Colter Bay Village.
If you want to hike there are plenty of trails. The Visitor Center in town or in Moose will have good information on where to hike. Two Ocean Lake in the North part of the Park has a good loop trail that goes around the lake. Its about 7 miles and is very popular. Also trails that circle String Lake and Jenny Lake are very popular. None of them are very strenuous.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay.
Mike and Kris

Re: Jackson, WY adventures
Adventuretrek, just clicked on your blog for the first time. Quite cool story, pics, all of it! I can't wait to read your review of the Jackson area. We love that place like no other, and even though it's quite touristy, we're drawn back time and again. How many meals did you eat at the Snake River Brewery? It's usually MULTIPLE meals for us, many of which are liquids only.
Anyway, thanks.
To those who haven't checked out the blog, it's worth checking out!
