It might depend on the type of tire, but unless it was only for an emergency I would stay away from that practice in excess. Portable air tanks would be better IMO or even a good cheap compressor. That spare might be your lifeline out and because SMB's weigh so much I would think you're putting yourself in a hazardous situation while running a spare at highway speeds with a tire that has been treated that way. But taking a 80 lb rated tire to bring another up enough to get out of a jam? Sometimes you got to do what you have to do to get out. Just keep the speeds down until you can get back to normal. My opinion only.
