Re: Jacks/Airbag, Recovery Gear and Tire kits

Keep in mind that the Hi-lift *can* be very dangerous (just like any tool used improperly). Watch some videos on proper use. In the photo above I wasn't holding it properly but I was very careful.

Definitely on my recovery tool list now, although winch and actually having a hi-lift as part of the van equipment precede it.

Any idea on how it will work with Aluminess D-rings as opposed to the fixed recovery points of an F350?

Here is what they had to say:

Interested in a T-lift for an E-350 Diesel, weight is 4450 lbs on front axle when empty of gear (haven't measured loaded yet).

Anyway, my question is do you have an adapter for D-rings as part of a T-lift? The Aluminess bumper supports 8.5T D-rings and these would be the obvious attachment point if such a thing exists.

Thanks,

Many of the Ford vehicles come with varying tow packages and tow hooks. The most consistant packages are present on F250 and F350 trucks. I am not familiar with the different versions of the E-350. Have you seen the instruction PDF on the website? It details the specs needed for the T-Lift to be used on a vehicle. Unfortunately, we do not make any adapters.

Here is what is in the PDF on sizing, the only semi-relevant thing I found:

For your vehicle to achieve a safe lifting point in the front, it needs to be
equipped with a front tug ring, not hook, that extends from the front grill of the
vehicle.

I know Jage I read that as well , I think I will send them an e-mail along with some photograph's of the Aluminess Bumper for their reference . It looks like their current adapter would work with our existing D Rings . My main consideration for this device was to accommodate lifting from the rear . I never considered a strategic lifting point for our Aluminess Bumper's with the Boxes and Tire carriers that most of us have mounted rearward

Okay. Now I have a question. I just received my X-Jack and am wondering where in the heck to store it in my Sportsmobile. The thing is a circle 26" across and 4" thick. How am I supposed to carry it? Any suggestions?

Just ask your wife to hold it while you drive. She probably won't mind.

Strapped to the spare.
In XL underfloor storage.
Hung across the rear bed panel.
Hung under the bed span.
Behind driver's seat.

The good news is it's an item you only need when you need it bad enough to dig it out. The bad news is none of the spaces I mentioned are free on my van, except under the rear bed panel which is not such a great solution.

I have the same problem with my Outback Porta-Privy, but since it's first out before we even camp it goes on top of the bed.

If you expand it, does it loosen up so you can fold it?

Your bride would be happy to hold it, after all, she may want to use it to decorate at Xmas because you spent the "poinsetta" money on the rig

how ' bout a pic of it in it's storage container?

Here is a picture of the case the X-Jack comes in showing its relative size to the tire:

And here is how I will be carrying it until I think of a better place. I don't want to strap it to the spare tire because it destroys the aesthetics of the van:

Pretty much what my underbed looks like. How about inside the swingarm behind the tire and arm? You might have to fab a backboard to attach to but it would be out of sight.

Have you tried it out? Might be a good idea before heading into the bush.
