Two things...
First, that is a really impressive install and "documentation" Jage. Well done and thank you so much for going through the effort for the rest of us.
Secondly, why did you go this route, instead of just buying a Stant locking gas cap? Was it to have the exterior visual effect of the lock? I have the Stant locking gas cap and it works great.

I have a locking gas cap on my Jeep from NAPA and:
A) I don't like unlocking it every time I get gas
B) It feels cheap and junky (lock and the cap)
C) It was less expensive to do both vehicles this way than buy one locking cap
D) I wanted to see if this would work

Great reasons Jage, especially D. Like I said, it looks great also.

I just wish Ford offered an option. Or perhaps Aluminess could offer additional matching cores to their locks? Or the undervan storage lock? I just can't bring myself to carrying ANOTHER key with me. I am strongly opposed to keys.

I'm meeting with the manufacturer of those locking caps above this friday, and we're going to see if any of their existing products work or what it will take to modify one of their existing products.
I got the heads up after a fellow forum member started working with them but couldn't make it up to their fab plant, and I live about 5 miles away from it.
I'll let everyone know how it goes. although I'm still thinking of going Jage's route because I could match the key for the aluminess bumpers.

Locking Billet Fuel Door
Buji ,
I am sure that you have already thought of it but you might have Kim check to see if the Billet Doors could utilize the Aluminess loct as it is a fairly common latch and tumbler . Food for thought , thanks again Buji

actually that was one of the main points I wanted to go over. Unfortunately they are unable to guarantee anything from their end with regards to making the lock the same type/compatible. That's not to say you couldn't replace the tumbler assembly itself, but the goal here was to get a turnkey bolt on solution.
Speaking of bolt on. They didn't have any lids that would fit without making new mount holes, and the ones that fit the bolt pattern were actually a smidgen too large, so they wouldn't fit in the recession for the cover. They took some measurements and will have a prototype ready to fit next week sometime.
As for how they will make it available, they're going to get back to me on if they are just going to start producing a new product line, or if they're going to do a limited run or something.
We also talked about some other parts I've been thinking of, specifically a milled handle for entry assist via the cargo doors, and some fender vents. I'll know more about these when I go back next week.
The R&D guy seemed enthusiastic about making products for our community, so that's a good thing.

Good info. I'd like a black one, if they do end up making them for the Ford vans.

Thanks for the update Buji,
I too would be interested.
If I am not mistaken Jeffrey has the billet gas cap-is it locking Jeffrey?
