Re: Mini Bike for my SMB

Well it's not a mini bike but I think a honda ct 90 or a newer 110 would be perfect, street legal, big enough for two, they are a step threw design, maybe this would allow more air to the radiator. The other cool thing about the ct 90/110 is they hold there value, buy it use it sell it in a few years for the same as you bought it for.

But, you may be ok with the V-10. Diesels have a big problem getting air out of the radiator through the densely packed engine comparts. Your results may vary.

Several of us have had problems with aftermarket bumpers and overheating. I don't know what your bumper is, nor have I heard of overheating with gas engines. Maybe I just haven't paid attention.

Soon a Aluminess front bump
comments?
No question my new aluminess front bumper is causing some heat problems. I'm going to try a few steps to improve airflow.

.

So gents, whats up with the heat problems, any solutions and or suggestions??

Do a search on 'transmission temp' and you'll find a thread with lots of relevant info.

Re: Mini Bike for my SMB

Or move the mountain bikes to the front for airflow and weight, then stick the DB on the back.

Re: Mini Bike for my SMB

My concept for the ultimate was to mount my Honda CRF 230L on a rack attached to my front hitch whilst neatly towing my wakeboard boat behind. It was going fine until we hit the Mojave in June and outside it was pushing 105 or so. The Motorcycle blocked airflow and the fan clutch raged. Interestingly it also heated the temp sensor which climbed North of 135 before the issue became scarily apparent. Hooray that we could swap the cycle to my wife following in the Escalade otherwise we'd have been sol for a while at least. Mountain bikes up front yes, tiny mini bikes maybe, full size cycles never again.

That's the little brother to the Yamaha Serow225 and currently 250. It's about the same size but with back tires. Great Trail Dual sports.

Personally, we tried the Honda CT90 but it weighed almost as much as the Serow and now the CT90 just sits.. It was fun but nowhere compares to the terrain the Serow covers..

Mmmm, yeah! I don't know anything about motorcycles to know if they're actually useful, but they look cool!

The Serow 225, sometimes called the xt225 too I think, has a cult like following. I've read a few blogs from people who have taken these around the world. I'm considering getting one of the new xt250s. They are a bit heavy, but I like the air cooled simplicity and reliability. I used to ride purely for the adrenaline, but that almost got me hurt a few too many times. The XT seems like the ideal trail bike, and with a plate it can take me anywhere.
